Camden Homes is currently seeking an experienced Construction Starts Coordinator to join our team in our corporate office located in Dallas, Texas.

Camden Homes has been building homes since 1998 and developed communities all over the Dallas/Ft Worth Metro areas. Currently, we are ranked as one of the largest home builders in the DFW area and have recently expanded to Houston, Texas.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating pre-construction activities including permitting, plan ordering, and distribution of permit packets to the field. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create POs and order site plans, foundation engineering plans, and frame shear-wall engineering plans
  • Review all site, foundation, and engineering plans for accuracy
  • Check blueprints to survey against the new build orders and update records upon receipt
  • Scan and file all documents to shared drives and upload copies to BuildPro and DropBox
  • Print and assemble packets needed to apply for permits
  • Apply for City permits for each new home start
  • Notify manager of any permitting issues
  • Maintain track of all permitting and fees per community
  • Assemble and distribute approved permit packs to the field
  • Maintain monthly permit release log
  • Assist in the start-up of new communities
  • Actively participate in meetings, providing current and relevant updates as needed
  • Meet permitting deadlines
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years experience obtaining permits for new construction
  • Associate's Degree in a construction related field, strongly preferred but not required


Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior construction knowledge, required
  • Prior BuildPro experience, strongly desired but not required
  • Ability to read blueprints and plot plans, required
  • Must have high attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat DC
  • Must be computer savvy and be able to learn new software quickly
  • Must have a great sense of urgency in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, goal oriented and dependable
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Must be a team oriented and work well in a team environment
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and be flexible with changing business needs
  • Must be a able to work a full-time (40 hour) schedule Monday - Friday 
  • Must be reliable and punctual
